Schnitzel With Noodle--Germany

Why did Hanna Sauer decide to leave her native country of Germany in favor of Arizona? Simple. Have you seen “High School Musical?”
Growing up on the images of the U.S. that are popularized by the media, Sauer decided she wanted a taste of the American high school experience. She left the small town of 2000 people near Frankfurt, Germany where she grew up at the age of 17. Now, she lives with an American host family who she loves, soaking up the fabled American high school experience that she saw from across the ocean back in Germany. She enjoys meeting new people, encourages travel for everybody, and still loves the American movies.
Sauer cares deeply about her family back in Germany, especially her twin sister. The Germans are not as friendly as Americans, she admits, but she misses the vegetation, beautiful mountains, and access to the ocean that she enjoyed in Germany. “Everything’s green,” she said.
Sauer believes firmly in the American dream. (It’s a good thing, perhaps, that she watched “High School Musical” instead of “The Great Gatsby”.) However, Sauer says that a government has responsibilities in the areas of education, food, and health insurance. In general, it should take care of its citizens.
What are her only complaints about crossing a time zone, an ocean, and a continent to enlarge her education in a new country? She hates the interrogations by fellow students about her supposed Nazi past, and she misses the schnitzel.

  1. Nate said he's had schnitzel. I on the other hand have not. She needs to explore more of the US and find some of the green spaces!
