Around the World in Eight Days

When people talk about the joy of travel, what do they really mean? Exciting new views, exotic food, and the satisfaction of stamps on a passport all contribute to the call of the wild. However, for a student of journalism, the real thrill of the unknown lies in its people.
For this project, I conducted interviews with eight people, representing eight distinctive cultures. All of the individuals now live in the United States, and several of them come from my hometown in Arizona. However, their opinions about the importance of family, education, and good government vary as much as the latitude of their birthplaces. Some of their answers are surprising; others seem to confirm stereotypes, but all of these individuals shared their stories and opinions. For the next eight days, join me on a tour of the people around the world.
